Lam 04:28
Doooo...dooooo I fled the trial, changed my name, found a God forsaken town But you follow me, follow me down Oooo CHORUS: When the world sees you’re right You can be known When they blow up the lies You can be known I don’t run to be free, my darling, oooo I run in the dark to protect the light of truth REPEAT FIRST CHORUS Doooo...doooo Doooo...doooo I took a wife, framed a life, But I never gave her a child Cause you, you never let me go Oooo CHORUS: When the world sees you’re right You can be known When they blow up the lies You can be known When the sun points the light You can be shown When the truth burns the blind You can be.... Doooo...doooo Doooo...doooo

We Come Back 04:40
Oh, I pull back, I pull back from the undertow Oh, you creep in, you advance with the tide again I bathed in you – you rang me dry – But over and over we turn to each other And who’s to say that this ain’t right But over and over we fuck with each other CHORUS: Oh, on with our lives! We have tried, we have suffered But something makes us double-blind We come back, we come back to the starting point Oh no no no, you should know Oh no no no, I let you go I moved with you, but we collide And over and over we’re trippin each other But who’s to blame and who is right? I won’t be another ambivalent lover CHORUS: Oh, on with our lives! We have tried, we have suffered But something makes us double-blind We come back, we come back to the starting point Oh we are obliged to prove we’re right but not for each other But something in your fuck-me eyes We come back, we come back to the starting point I bathed in you – you rang me dry – But over and over we turn to each other And who’s to say that this ain’t right But over and over we fuck with each other CHORUS: Oh, on with our lives! We have tried, we have suffered But something makes us double-blind We come back, we come back to the starting point Oh we are obliged to prove we’re right but not for each other But something in your fuck-me eyes We come back, we come back to the starting point Let’s forget what we know Let’s forget what we know

Collusion 05:31
Blame was a fever “Find us a banker and lock him in jail” Raise a glass from our aeroplanes We rose above this terrible fail CHORUS: Collusion, Collusion He could be the man you wanted When you see him, then you got him Collusion, Collusion Who’s to say we saw this comin’ We believed in our own lies, Oh [Instrumental] Shame needs a witness Here was a village beating the drum: “We believe in prosperity But never ask us to see what we’ve done” REPEAT CHORUS Guilt is a virus If you don’t catch it, you’re not around I survived - don’t look at me like that Now you act righteous – ‘cause you were found REPEAT CHORUS Oh we couldn’t know too much....Collusion BRIDGE: See our face hold the look of surprise See our face hold the look of surprise “Who could know?” “Who could see it was the sign of disaster?” “Who could see it was the sign of disaster?” “Now we know!” Collusion, Collusion (4 reps)

Turns 04:59
Never thought I’d break with you You were there to shore me in Like an old familiar friend You’d correct me to the end But I cut the cord with you And I swam into the sound And I believed the waves as they lifted me and the horizon up I gotta feed the burnin’ light I gotta feed it through the night I’ll always hear my bully calling “You won’t forget, and you’ll be back” Freedom oh-oh-oh Free from the prophecy I dealt I gotta face the darkness turning See it for myself, despite myself “You are the son of a long line of doubt You were born to let me in to the hollows of your will I consume you like a sin” No, I’m a man of no one’s grace I’m writing you out of every page Believe the story of my will on its own Feed the burnin’ light I gotta stoke it through the night I’ll always hear my dearest calling “But is it right? Make it right” Freedom, oh-oh-oh Free from the prophecy I dealt I gotta face the darkness turning See it for itself, despite myself Hungry light, I’m feedin it yeah-yeah-yeah, oooo Hungry light, keep feedin it yeah-yeah-yeah “If you think ignoring me will finally make your whole Then you go right ahead I’ll be right here till the end” I accept your vile face Just as I know I’ll set the stage See the machinations of my will let you go I gotta feed the burnin’ light I gotta feed it through the night I’ll always hear my bully calling “You won’t forget, and you’ll be back” Freedom oh-oh-oh Free from the prophecy I dealt I gotta face the darkness turning See it for myself, despite myself

In the hollow souls, I see your hope (oh oh oh) sow the seeds of art into their woes (oh oh oh ) Oh, I watch you go long into night Oh, when will you sleep dear? When will you save your lonely heart from your drive? All your disco jungles All your frescoed fields were empty lots at one time Your love monsoon, it can free the desert life – A city of dust – Graffiti-bloom, a flight of beats diffused the light You can breathe now... Saffron moon, a dervish dreams he’s on his head - spinning with lust - A garden of you – a poet sings of peace transpired Rest your feet now Seeds of “we survive” Seeds of “we thrive” The seeds of hope you sow (oh oh) with your life (oh oh oh) We ...survive In the cresting fields, I see your touch (oh oh oh oh oh ) amplify itself through your trust...of the doers Oh, I watch you go long into night Oh, when will you sleep dear? When will you save your lonely heart from your drive? All your Butoh geysers, All your bramble looms were empty lots at one time We survive, I know We survive, I know --For Tracie D. Hall
6.
Love intentional, love immutable Will it wait there? Ahhhh I only know the love rehearsable, what would be the show (oh) Last night I held you naked You sat up you were blue-lit, ash-marine, oh You fed me lines to please you except for “Can I see you, you again?” CHORUS: Will you be, will you be my stand-in heart? Will you hold me till I finally get it right? Ee-oh [instrumental verse] I’ll keep it all barely mentionable —the nights with you dear I’ll carry on the love transactional till the real thing shows We kissed into a slumber You held me we were total gravity “You’re welcome to sleep over but don’t feel any pressure (Please don’t leave)” REPEAT CHORUS BRIDGE: The past keeps building up a debt to failed love, oh My heart keeps playing out the pain of never-was, oh A love self-defeated— what could I be to want this? Oh I’ll save a space for you— my temporary heart, oh Love plausible, compartmentible We are safe here You say you want to go with the flow watch me flow like a pro Can’t promise I won’t need ya But baby needs his freedom (will you be) I’ll keep it under covers I’ll be your scheduled lover (will you be) REPEAT CHORUS See my soul See my soul See my soul See my soul

Throes 04:52
When the night sets down on SoMa There’s a hole you should know Just a drink – unless you should get trapped there with the same low-lit souls There’s Hank with an app, and he dances in your lap There’s Ron, Vin, and Rose All I can see is a pageant in front of me— lonely men in the throes Doooo....aren’t you one, one to talk? I saw you disappear into the back....room Oh you need some I betch’you loved yourself a little more after tonight Who’ll take me home tonight? Who’ll take me in their arms tonight? Ron’s a wealthy backroom loner Helps himself to who he gropes Vin is there – but he’s the checked-out owner Dreams of his Palm Desert home There’s Rose – “Rosaline” – She’s the meanest glamour queen, let’s Ron tear her hose All I can see is a pageant front of me Fits of love is the show Doooo....why so glum? Let yourself Be pulled by loving hands into the night Youooo....You need some I betch’you loved yourself a little more after tonight Who’ll take me home tonight? Who’ll take me in their arms tonight? [Instrumental Verse 1x] Hank’s the I-don’t-need-you dancer Except when there’s cash He’s in love with Vin who barely bothers— Pays him in bourbon and his bed And Rose steals the show with her cataclysmic crow The men push and moan All I can see is a pageant in front of me Trapping time with their hopes [Repeat instrumental bridge] Doooo....aren’t you one, one to talk? I saw you disappear into the back....room Oh you need some I betch’you loved yourself a little more after tonight Who’ll take me home tonight? Who’ll take me in their arms tonight? Who’ll take me home tonight? Who’ll take me in their arms tonight?

We are not afraid, afraid of the nature (oh) outside Oh, we can tolerate the blows and the clamor (oh) and get by CHORUS: We don’t need your life, Don’t need a home for your conscience Somehow we survive Leave us alone to our chaos Oh-oh-oh, you the stole the home from the Native Souls Oh, but you won’t steal ours, we’re the Last Nation We will rise REPEAT CHORUS We choose the life (oh...) You choose your life (oh...)(yeah) We’re more afraid of your land lust than the night REPEAT CHORUS When Fire and Flood come to level your kingdom When Justice is done We will stand in the wreckage Oh, oh Oh, oh We choose the life...it’s a beautiful sun, it’s a beautiful sun You choose your life...a conditional one, a conditional one

I could conjure up a heaven fake an angel tongue I could elevate your name with myth and song But that won’t change the way a river stone sinks in How to love the dust you travel on When you fall away you fall away my love When you fall away you fall away to gone In the way you wrung compassion out of judgment’s heart In the way that comfort was your shield my love I carry your name in the face of great doubt What if there’s no there and that is all When you fall away you fall away my love When you fall away you fall away to gone When you fall away you fall away my love When you fall away you fall away to gone I’ll keep holding on to comfort, to the nights with you Dining on your laughter sleeping in your balm And I’ll keep holding on to your shine and your breath I will you carry you until I’m gone When you--- When you--- Yeah do-do-do When you fall away you fall away my love When you fall away you fall away to gone When you fall away you fall away my love When you fall away you fall away to gone --In Memory of Jeanne McGough Rainey

about

Rock 'n' Roll Americana with a twist of Goth and New Wave

After more than 2 years, and with the backing of 100+ campaign donors, Dylan Rice's third solo album, FITS AND FEVERS, has finally landed. Further developing Rice 's penchant for crafting Rock-Americana songs that are both passionately earnest and darkly humorous, FITS AND FEVERS centers around portraits of characters who inhabit distorted emotional landscapes and struggle to find resolve in a waking fever dream.

Recorded by engineer/co-producer Adam Muñoz (Bill Frisell, Joanna Newsom) FITS AND FEVERS is one of the last projects to record at the legendary Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, CA, before it closed its doors. The album showcases a crew of stellar Bay Area musicians: guitarist James DePrato (Chuck Prophet), keyboardist Julie Wolf (Ani Difranco, Bruce Cockburn), singer Omega Rae (Santana), bassist Andrew Lion (Negative Press Project), drummer Javier Torres, Alisa Rose (Feist), as well as long-time collaborator and guitarist Dave Mendez from Chicago.
